About us
Hi my name is Pat and i am the founder member of the Caprioara Collies. it all started over 25 years ago when i bought my foundation dogs, A blue boy Captain and a Tri girl Jet then a bit later another tri girl Dreamer from the USA. From these three all my rough collies are descendants of. As well as breeding the roughs i show them too, and we have had great success with this, but i show my dogs for fun, as both myself and they enjoy the social side of this hobby. The collies are great show off's and enjoy being the centre of attention, there favourite pastime is running and playing on there field and just enjoying life. All my adult dogs are DNA tested which is of the utmost importance, and i have imported dogs from other country's I do have stud dogs in the three colours. I have now also ventured into the world of the Smooth collie these are under the Affix of Stormsett which i share with a Mr Ray Glover. And i also now own and breed Toftys ( what are Toftys i hear you say go to there own page and read more ) Each of the dogs have there own page with all there info on. Kingsman 1st in junior then Best puppy in Breed then he won Puppy group 1. Leeds champ show Masie ( Smooth) 1st in Veteran bitch class then awarded best Veteran bitch then awarded Best veteran in Breed. Paignton champ show Kingsman 2nd in puppy dog Aslan 1st in vet dog and also best veteran dog.

Percy, Thistle, Rumba, Cinders, Aslan, Diablo, Masie & Alaska all qualified for EACA Dog of the Year 2024. . Then our yearly best results were Alaska Manchester Ch show 2nd and Qualified for Crufts 2025 then at Crufts 2024 p/g class 2nd and also qualified for Crufts 2025. Alaska Qualified for EACA dog of the Year 2025. She was also 1st and Reserve best of breed at sherringham open show. Then she was Reserve best of breed at an open show. Alaska was also reserve best bitch at Wales champ show. Masie qualified for Crufts 2025 at Darlington show. Aslan has his stud book number and he won Reserve best of breed at an open show. Aslan 1 Best of Breed and Group 4 then 5 1st's at open shows. Then it was Trixies turn she qualified for EACA dog of the year 2025 and also qualified for Crufts 2025.. Jelly qualified for Crufts 2025.. Percy ( who i co-own with Angela Harvey) he has his stud book number he won Reserve best of breed and also qualified EACA dog of the year 2025.Diablo (who i co-own with Georgie Moore) 1st p/g Welsh kennel and was reserve best dog. Thistle ( who i co-own with Georgie Moore) at the National was 1st in limit and won his stud book number At Grantham open show he was 1st and Best of Breed and shortlisted in the group Yogi gained 3 1st places qualified for Crufts 2024 . Drift ( who i co-own with Mr & mrs Melonie)EACA Champ show he qualified for Crufts 2025 and also EACA dog of the year 2025. He also won Best Special Beginner in breed and at Sherringham open show he went Best of Breed. Cassie ( who i co -own with Mr & Mrs Melonie) she also qualified for EACA dog of the year 2025 and she won 3 1st places at open shows. These were our best results for the year 2024.
Old fashioned remedies
This section has many tips for various ailments but please if this dosn't work then you must visit a vet.
FOR MASTITUS a large cabbage leaf pour hot water over and when you can hold it then lay the leaf on the breast leave it till the leaf is cold and repeat. FOR ANY INFECTION on the dog get two slices of bread leave whole and pour hot water onto them squeeze out excess water and put this onto the infected area repeat once the bread is cold this will break the infection and any pus will be drained. IF YOUR DOG PULLS a muscle trips over or hurts itself not seriously tho and is in pain you can give one asprin in the morning and one again in the evening only for a couple of days and if the pain dosnt go after the couple of days then please visit a vet... PLEASE ALWAYS REMEMBER when its hot test the pavement with the back of your hand if its too hot for your hand then its too hot for your dog to walk on... IT IS ALWAYS USEFULL to get empty bottles fill with water freeze then cut the bottle open take the large ice out and put in garden for the dog they will thank you... IF YOU DONT HAVE A WET COAT for the dog then get a towel soak it wring some of the water out put it in a plastic bag take on walks with you and if does get too hot then stop the walk find shade and put the towel over the dog this will cool the dog down wait long enough then go straight home IF YOUR DOG GETS STUNG BY A BEE/WASP give the dog one piriton then another 3 hrs later if the dog is having trouble breathing because of the sting take to vet asap but the piriton will give you time to get there. SALT WATER is great for cleaning wounds stops infections from starting. IF YOUR DOG GETS MUDDY FEET on walks great tip use salt water in bucket soak each foot and pat dry with towel, this will stop the dog from licking the feet and injesting any nasties. NATUREL WORMING give 2 rabbit ears with fur on twice a week this is a naturel wormer and so you dont need to use chemicals

Grooming tips
To keep behind the ears free from knots use any conditioner or detangling spray and rub into the area behind the ears do this every day. Put shampoo into a squeezy bottle add water use this to shampoo. Use conditioner on the coat . Dont bath too often. Use a good quality pin brush a slicker brush and a comb for grooming the coat.
tips for eyes and feet
To keep eyes sparkling use golden eye oitment gently over each eye or use a t.bag which has just had warm water on it hold the t.bag gently on the eye till its cold. If the dog has dry eye buy h2o eye drops If the nose is cracked and dry use a little vaseline rubed gently into it. If the pads are cracked or hard use vaseline.
Supplements
Salmon oil for joints and coat. Keepers mix for coat and well being. Buy a good quality mobilaty product and give while the dog is still young. Dont ever over excerise your dog, as this can cause joint problems. Dont let your pup run up and down stairs until its an adult.. Remember that bones are not set until the pup is at least 18 months old
